Why I Am Running

I believe my work experience will provide a unique perspective as a county board member.   As your county board representative, I am dedicated to advocating for you.

I will listen to your concerns and be responsive just as I was when I worked with the Sheriffs Office.

I am committed to making well-informed decisions on your behalf.  Every decision will be based on careful consideration of fact-based and balanced information, data, and the unique needs of our community.

I recognize that decisions may impact you directly or indirectly and may have intended or unintended impact in the future.  I will always strive to make choices that will benefit the present and future of our county.

Taxes

As a former administrator, I understand the responsibility to use our tax dollars carefully. The county government’s piece of the property tax pie is less than 10% of our total property tax.  I support responsible business growth to expand our tax base and increase county revenues to avoid additional tax burdens on homeowners.  Strengthening our county economy through the strategic business development helps provide resources for county services.

Nursing Home

The DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is an asset to our community.  I advocated for the county board to maintain ownership of nursing home when it was for sale, and to establish an oversight board with citizen participation.  As a self-sustaining nursing home and rehabilitation center, it provides a well-functioning, close-to-home option, providing families with the ability to frequently visit their loved ones.

Renewable Energy

Water & Energy Stewardship

In the coming years data and information to monitor our water aquifers will be key.  Clean and accessible water is essential to all residents, homeowners, farmers, industry and businesses.

To reduce cost to ratepayers, it is important to transition to more clean energy.  Our county's renewable energy policy was updated in 2023 to align with state requirements.

Forest Preserve

As a Wednesday morning volunteer with the Forest Preserve, I am committed to continued support of maintaining our forest preserve and encouraging use and accessibility of this wonderful resource for future generations.  I support the Forest Preserve mission to acquire, preserve, protect and restore the natural beauty and conditions of our land.
